Annual Crime Report Shows Drug Crime Up, Violent Crime Down

Pierre police reported 181 drug related offenses last year. Of those, they made 117 adult arrests and 28 juvenile arrests. Drug equipment violations totaled 114 with 13 adults arrested and eight juveniles. The Hughes County Sheriff’s Office took 22 drug related reports and made 19 adult arrests off them. Stanley County had four reports of drug violations and two arrests of adults. Overall drug crimes increased seven-point-two percent from 2016. Overall, Pierre police had 1839 reported offenses with 746 arrests made with 593 those adults and 153 juveniles. Hughes County had 80 reported offenses with 46 adult arrests. Stanley County had 40 reports with 18 adult and 3 juvenile arrests.
