Athletes of the Week for Nov. 9 through Nov. 14

Congratulations to Makenna Schlekeway and the Governor football team for being chosen as PACA- Athletes of the Week!

MaKenna Schlekeway (Volleyball):  MaKenna Schlekeway has been a consistent player for the volleyball team all season long at both the JV and Varsity level.  Schlekeway is a very unselfish player that plays a very difficult middle position.  She works across the entire net blocking from one antenna to the other and is always giving 100%. Schlekeway is a player that you can give a job, usually a blocking goal, and she will execute.  She finished the season with 36 blocks, 13 solo and 23 assisted and a season kill percentage of .181.  In the final match against Brandon Valley, she was 17/20 with 7 kills and had 3 blocks.  She made it hard for the Brandon Valley hitters as she made them have to change up their shot and had lots of touches on blocks to make the defense have a better opportunity to play up a ball.

Governor Football:  The Governor Football team completed the first ever 4-Peat in 11AA and made Pierre only the 3rd program in State History to win more than 3 consecutive Titles joining Freeman & West Central. The team did an incredible job coming together over the course of the season and peaking in November. The team fought through all kinds of adversity this season and disappointed the many people who were ready, waiting, and hoping for us to finally falter in the playoffs. This team made us so proud in the way that they cared for and played for each other down the stretch. This love and unity displayed by this team was no doubt the difference over the last 5 games of the season and the major reason the team was able to accomplish this incredible feat. Thank you for an amazing ride to each and every player in the 2020 Governor Football Family.
