Austin Hoss Named Boys Golfer Of The Year By The Argus Leader

Last night the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls held their 2018 sports award. Austin Hoss from the Pierre Govs Golf team was able to win boys golfer of the year.

Austin Hoss had an impressive senior year on the golf course he was able to break his own school record at the Pierre Invite shooting a 64. He was also able to set a single-season school record with a stroke average of 71.1 and he also won the Class AA state individual championship with a state record 137 for both days, seven under par.

Hoss is a four time All-ESD pick, four time Class AA all-state selection and a two time ESD champion. He has also gone on to win 10 regular season tournaments and he has won four SDGA events outside of high school competition. He also placed sixth at the 2017 US Junior Amateur Sectional Qualifier. Austin Hoss will Attend SDSU in the fall to continue his golfing career.

He wasn’t the only Gov nominated as Michael Lusk was nominated for Wrestler of the year, Peyton Zabel football player of the year and Joanna Zanin for female soccer player of the year.
