Monday, June 19, 2017
Nathan Sanderson of Pierre, Governor Dennis Daugaard’s director of policy and operations, is one of 48 state leaders from across the nation selected for the Toll Fellowship Program sponsored by the Council of State Governments.
The annual seminar, named in honor of Henry Toll, a Colorado senator who founded CSG in 1933, aims to develop the next generation of leaders from all three branches of state government. This year's program will be held Aug. 25 – 30 in Lexington, Kentucky.
Sanderson was nominated for the program by Daugaard and was selected from applicants across the nation by a committee of elected and appointed state officials. Past Toll Fellowship graduates include governors, U.S. senators and members of Congress.
Sanderson has worked in the Governor’s Office since the beginning of the Daugaard Administration. He first served as a policy advisor and was promoted to policy and operations director in 2014. He manages policy development and implementation, oversees the operations of state government departments and serves as a member of the Governor’s Executive Committee.
