(KCCR) — Yankton-based First Dakota National Bank will be closing down its branch in Blunt by the end of the year. Starting Monday, hours at the Blunt branch will be cut back to drive-up service only from eight to noon, Monday through Friday. The location will close permanently at noon December 31st. First Dakota Bank President Rob Stephenson says all other First Dakota locations will remain open. Stephenson says the decision to close the Blunt branch was not made lightly. He cites keeping the branch staffed and the low number of transactions at the bank, made continued operation in Blunt unfeasible. A positive from the announcement is that staff at the Blunt branch will not lose their employment. Blunt branch employees will be moved to similar positions at the Pierre branch. Stephenson says Blunt customers with questions about the transition should contact the Pierre branch for more information.
