The Sully Buttes Charger girls and boys used different paths to victory in basketball action against Hitchcock Tulare Thursday night.
The Charger girls ran up against a tough Patriot defense, but recorded 21 points from Lauren Wittler, and 20 points from Rachel Guthmiller to notch a 65-56 victory in the first game. Sully Buttes trailed after the first quarter by a score of 16-14, but rallied to outscore Hitchcock Tulare 51-40 over the rest of the game. Marinda Archer contributed 17 points, but was playing with foul trouble in the second half. The Sully Buttes girls’ season record is now 12-0, while Hitchcock Tulare is now 7-6 on the year.
The Charger boys pushed and passed around and over the Patriots in the second game, and defeated Hitchcock Tulare 59-38. Lincoln Jordre had a relatively quiet night, but still finished with 14 points, while Nick Wittler added 13, but had only two points in the entire second half. The Chargers had balanced scoring, with four players scoring nine points or more. The Sully Buttes boys now have a season record of 10-1, while Hitchcock Tulare slips to 3-9.
