Cross Country Finishes State in Snowy Rapid City

The start times of each of the races for the State Cross Country Meet were pushed up to beat the winter weather ahead for Rapid City on Saturday. But it was still a snowy day for the runners as the Cross Country season was completed by early afternoon.

In Class B, junior Griffin Peterson was the lone runner for the Sully Buttes Chargers. He finished in 23rd place with a time of 18:27. Cody Larson of Warner took home the Class B boys race with a time of 15:54.

For Class A, Stanley County had three girls run in Sarah Fosheim, Bailey Seidschlaw and Kaysen Magee. Fosheim and Magee finished within 17 seconds of each other as Fosheim finished in 56th while Magee was 62nd at 21:48 and 22:05 respectively. Seidschlaw was 115th with a time of 24:51.

The Pierre Governor boys were the only of the three to compete as a team as they finished in 10th place in the AA race. Hayden Shaffer had the best finish of seventh place with a time of 16:45, 50 seconds off of the winner in Josh Martin of Aberdeen Central at 15:55. Blake Judson was 44th, Mason Dell was 51st Brayden Brother of All was 65th, Brady Gere was 68th, Jared Lutmer was 73rd and Hayden Wheelhouse was 90th to close out the run for the Governors.

In the AA girls race, Jessica Lutmer had the best time for the Pierre Governors finishing in 15th place with a time of 19:35. Alea Hardie was the winner of the Girls AA Race from O’Gorman with a time of 17:58. Jazzlyn Rombough was 78th for Pierre while BreAnna Lowery  was 83rd, Rachel Nemec was 104th and Trysta Johnson was 120th to round out the Governors.
