Fort Pierre Chouteau Site Accepts Grant Funds

Two donations, one from the South Dakota Community Foundation and another from the State Office of Historic Preservation are helping enhance the Fort Pierre Chouteau National Landmark. The money will cover costs associated with a new bastion constructed on the site of the Fort Pierre Chouteau, which was the largest and best equipped fur trading post in the Upper Great Plains from the 1830’s to the 1850’s.
