Fort Pierre City Council Approves Resolution Establishing Arbor Board

(KCCR) — The City of Fort Pierre is moving forward with the creation of an Arbor Board to guide how trees are utilized and kept track of in the city. “I’ve been talking to some people who are interested in being a member of the Arbor Board and we are looking at applying for a  Community Forestry grant that would help to pay for an intern for the summer that would help us with a tree inventory and also assistance in moving forward on a plan for the Emerald Ash Borer.”
The City of Pierre has an Arbor Board that has assisted Fort Pierre with tree issues. Members of Fort Pierre’s Arbor Board will appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Bylaws, according to the resolution will be written by the Board and approved by the City Council. Those bylaws will include terms of office, election of officers and organizational procedures. It’s unknown when the Fort Pierre Arbor Board will come together for its first meeting.
