There is an expansive agenda for the Fort Pierre City Council to mull over tonight. One item is staring the group down, and that’s the new Missouri River Bridge. The South Dakota Department of Transportation originally told city leaders in Fort Pierre and Pierre that by February 1st or Thursday the cities would have to submit any additions to the span so that final plans could be developed. The DOT has since extended that dead line to March 1st. Both Mayors Gloria Hanson of Fort Pierre and Steve Harding of Pierre have said public hearings would be held to get public input on proposed additions. Its not known if any public input on the bridge will be taken formally tonight or if a public input session will be set. The Fort Pierre City Council is set to meet tonight at 5 PM in the Commission Room of the Stanley County Courthouse. The meeting is open to the public.
