Fort Pierre Jumps On Alert Sense Notification System

The Fort Pierre City Council signed off Monday night on the Alert Sense mass notification system. Hughes/Stanley County Emergency Manager Rob Fines has been pitching the system to multiple governing bodies in the last month. It has previously been approved by both the Hughes and Stanley County Commissions and Pierre City Commission. Director of Public Works for Fort Pierre Rick Hahn was impressed with the program during a presentation on it….

Fines says a group of counties in the Warhawk District near Mobridge has a contract that as counties are added, overall costs go down…

Fines figured the costs based on population meaning Fort Pierre’s bill for Alert Sense would be 500-dollars per year. Stanley County is on the hook for the remaining 250-dollars. Fines says he doesn’t know if the yearly costs will go up, only that the more counties that get on the Warhawk District contract, the lower the overall costs will be for everyone…

Now that Pierre, Fort Pierre, and Stanley and Hughes Counties have agreed to join Alert Sense, Fines will begin to prepare contracts for the governing boards to sign. Training for all users is scheduled for November 30th.
