Gabriel Wraps Up 8 Year Term On Fort Pierre City Council Monday Night

(KCCR) — Monday night brought an end for a long time Fort Pierre City Council member. Kevin Gabriel’s term was up this year and he did not seek petition signatures to run for office again. Gabriel wrapped up 8 years as a Council member this week…

“I guess I would like to say, its been a great 8 years working with each and every one of you guys.  We’ve had some tough decisions to make here, and they’re…and they’re not easy.  Greg this job is not all that easy sometimes…I think Greg will be a great candidate for this position of mine.  Other than that, I just wanna thank each and everyone one of you guys personally.  It’s been an honor working with all of you.”  “Likewise”…”And it’s a small town…probably be running into you guys….””You can bend their ear?”  Keep bringing some of your great ideas.”  “Oh yeah, absolutely.”
Mayor Gloria Hanson says she appreciates that Gabriel stepped up to serve on the City Council…

“Well, I would just like to express my appreciation to Kevin for your really good and dedicated service to the City of Fort Pierre and we’ll miss you, so I think that, when your work schedule isn’t quite so demanding, maybe you’ll come back.”  “And I’ll second that…”  “All in favor say Aye, AYE”.
Greg Kenzy is the only person to take out a petition to run for Gabriel’s City Council spot. He will be sworn in to take over the Ward One position held by Gabriel on May 6th.
