The Pierre Governor Soccer teams wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday as the girls beat the Yankton Gazelles 5-0 and the boys lost 1-0 to close out the year.
In the girls’ game, the Pierre Governors used a pair of goals from both Avery Davis and Ryann Barry to beat the Gazelles 5-0 as the Govs finish 3-7-1 on the regular season. Gracelyn Taylor had the first goal of the game for Pierre. The Govs outshot Yankton 26-3 in the game as Jenna Gehring had to make just one save in the win. Barry finished the last three games of the year scoring six goals for the Govs as the offense continues to heat up at the right time.
The Pierre Governor boys, for the second straight night lost in a 1-0 game as the Bucks scored with 13:45 left in the first half from Braylon Brietz to beat the Govs. The Bucks outshot Pierre 21-11 in the game as the Govs best chances came in the final minutes but just couldn’t find the back of the net, again. Cam Ahartz had six saves for the Governors as the season ends with them going 3-6-2 on the year.
Both teams will wait to see who they play on Tuesday as the season will conclude on Thursday. Riverfront Broadcasting Sports will have playoff soccer on Tuesday with the time and location to be determined.
