The Pierre Governors were supposed to host their final invite of the season before the ESD Track and Field Championships but instead they had to postpone one of the few events of the season and compete on Monday. The Sully Buttes Chargers along with the Stanley County Buffaloes participated in the event as well.
For Sully Buttes, Stevie Wittler won the 100 meter hurdles, while Griffin Peterson won the 1600 meter run. The girls 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams won their events and the boys 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relay teams won their events.
The Stanley County Buffaloes got winning events from Evan Nordstrom in the 300 meter hurdles and the boys 4 x 100 relay team.
The Pierre Governors saw winning performances in 21 of the 42 events. Mack Rath and Jack Maher both won the shot put and discus events while Jessica Lutmer won both the girls 1600 meter run as well as the 800 meter run. Paul Adam also won two events in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash.
For the Governors boys and girls team, they both won the team event scoring a 295.50 for the girls and a 293 for the boys. In second place in the team girls score was Sully Buttes with a score of 108. In all seven teams competed in the event. The Governors will head to Huron on Thursday while Stanley County and Sully Buttes will compete in their respective regions on Thursday too.
