Govs Drop Tough One On The Road

The Pierre Govs boys basketball team was in an old fashion ESD Conference battle with Huron last night.

The Govs would play well in the first quarter scoring 16 points and having an eight point lead. After a slow second quarter the Govs would only take o two point lead into halftime 22-20.

High scoring third quarters led it to be a four point Govs lead going into the fourth 36-32. The fourth quarter would be exciting as in the final seconds Huron’s Kobe Busch would get fouled and hit both three throws with nine seconds left.

The Govs would get a chance Carson Techetter tried a three from the right corner and could get it to go Peyton Zabel would get the rebound and could get a shot off. The Govs fall in this game 46-45.

With the loss the Govs record goes to1-3 and Huron’s record goes to 2-4. Leading the way for the Govs in scoring was Garrett Stout who had 13, Zabel had 10 and so did Matt Maxfield. Teegan Evers led the way in scoring for Huron he had 14 and Busch was able to manage 12.

The Govs will be back in action tonight for a double header with Sioux Falls O’Gorman starting at 8 pm. Game can be heard on Today’s KCCR.
