Govs Guys And Gals Fall To O’Gorman

PIERRE, S.D. (TodaysKCCR.com) — As heard on 1240 Today’s KCCR & the Governors Radio Network Friday night, the Pierre guys and gals fell on Ugly Christmas Sweater night to Sioux Falls O’Gorman.

The Lady Governors fell 70-43.  Emily Mikkelsen was the only Lady Governor in double figures with 18 points.  Lady Govs got down early 18-6 after the 1st quarter and were outscored 19-15 in the second to trail the Knights 37-21 at the half.  The Lady Knights never looked back outscoring the Lady Govs 13-11 in the 3rd and 20-11 in the fourth quarter.  Lady Govs fall to 2-4 and are off till January 5 & 6th as they take a weekend trip to Rapid City to take on Stevens and Central.

Peyton Zabel lead the way for the Govs with 22 points in game two of the double header and was the only Gov to score in the double figures.  The guys got down early to the Knights and trailed after 1, 16-5.  Govs were outscores 12-6 in the second quarter to make it 28-11, Knights at the half.  The Knights owned the 3rd quarter outscoring the Govs 12-8 to make it 40-19 after three.  The Govs did outscore the Knights in the 4th 14-13 but O’Gorman won the night 53-33.  The guys fall to 1-4 and are also off till January 5 & 6th when Rapid City Central and Stevens comes to town.

The Governors Radio Network will have coverage of the boys games on January 5 on 1240 Today’s KCCR and on January 6th on Capital City Rock 104.5.  The girls games will not be broadcast due to 1240 Today’s KCCR’s coverage of the NFL Wildcard & FCS Championship game.
