Govs Shake off Slow Start, Route Sturgis

The Pierre Governors were slow to start against the Sturgis Scoopers on Tuesday but pulled away and would blow out the Scoopers 79-31.

Both teams were in search of their second win but on the home court, the Governors weren’t going to surrender while the Scoopers were hanging around. Sturgis couldn’t handle the press of the Governors but poor shooting and turnovers in the first half, especially in the first quarter kept the Scoopers within 10. However, the Govs rallied in the second half to run past the Scoopers on the back of Jackson Edman and Lincoln Kienholz who put on a dunk clinic in the game and scored 20 and 18. Matthew Hanson, Jacob Mayer, Bennett Dean and James Mikkonen all had six for the Governors.

The Governors, now at 2-5 will host Douglas on Thursday, in a make up game from December. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 at Riggs High School.
