Gymnastics Begins Season in Huron

Tonight officially begins the Winter Sports Season in the region as the Pierre Governor Gymnastics team travels to Huron for a standalone dual with the Tigers.

The Governor Gymnastics team has just one senior on this year’s squad in Aubrie Westover as the team will be young for the 2020-2021 season.

Head Coach Rebecca Feller says though, the team is excited for tonight…

Those Covid-19 restrictions for Thursday are having to wearing a mask. Spectators, coaches and athletes while not participating, will have to all wear masks. Once the athlete is competing they are able to remove their mask but will have to put it back on after they are done with their routines. As Feller said before, the usual community chalk bucket and items that are shared throughout the meet will now be specifically for the athlete and won’t be shared with anyone else.

Feller says they get to take 14 members of the team to Huron, but there’s a small twist…

And Feller says she wants clean routines to begin the year…

The first meet of the season begins at 5:30 in Huron tonight.
