Hanson To Run Again For Fort Pierre Mayor

(KCCR) — Fort Pierre Mayor Gloria Hanson will be joining cross-river counterpart Pierre Mayor Steve Harding by running again for the position of Mayor in the Stanley County seat…

“Three of the Alderman are up for election, one in each Ward and so this year Larry Cronin in Ward One; Dave LaRoche in Ward Two and Mike Weisgram in Ward Three are all up for re-election and…as…as am I so I’m announcing today that I am going to run for re-election and so you’ve got the scoop!”
Hanson made the announcement official Wednesday morning on the Fort Pierre “Ask the Mayor” program. Hanson says her love for her hometown drives the desire to keep the head chair in the Council chambers…

“It is my hometown and I care deeply for it and we have so much momentum going in the city; so many good things and I certainly don’t take credit for all that.  We have a very strong Council.  We don’t always agree, but I think that’s a good thing.  We have some very progressive boards and commissions who are working hard every day and incredible staff.  Seasoned, experienced dedicated staff and gosh, with a team like that why wouldn’t you want to continue.  It’s too much fun to quit.”
Hanson was a member of the Fort Pierre City Council from 2012 to 2014 when she became Mayor. She ran unopposed in 2018.  The municipal election in Fort Pierre is set for April 14th. Petitions to get on the ballot to run for Mayor or one of the three City Council positions can be picked up from the City of Fort Pierre Finance Office starting January 31st.
