High Speed Chase Leads To Discovery Of Body Near Rapid City

A California man was arrested by South Dakota Highway Patrol Troopers after a high-speed chase yesterday on Interstate 90 in western South Dakota. A trooper observed 30 year-old Tosten David Walsh Lommen traveling east in the interstate in Lawrence County at a speed near 100 miles per hour. The trooper tried to pull Lommen over, but he failed to stop. The pursuit continued from Spearfish to Rapid City where speeds reached 118 miles an hour. Spike strips were used to disable Lommen’s vehicle. He then attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended. Lommen was arrested on multiple charges and as law enforcement officers searched the vehicle, the body of a deceased female was found. The Attorney General’s office is labeling the death as suspicious. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is now conducting an investigation into the cause of the woman’s death.
