(KCCR) — A state highway that runs through Presho will be closing temporarily by the South Dakota Department of Transportation during the last week in October. Highway 248 near Brakke Dam is closing to through traffic for three weeks beginning Monday October 26th. Just over four and a half miles of the highway that runs parallel to Interstate 90 will be closed east of the US-183-SD-248 junction at Presho so repairs can be made to a box culvert under the highway. The detour includes use of Interstate 90 from Presho at Exit 226 to Kennebec at Exit 235. The box culvert work on Highway 248 is part of a larger project that includes an asphalt overlay on I-90 from Vivian to Reliance. The complete project is expected to be finished in about a year; October 29th of 2021.
