Huron Photographer Expanding With Second Studio In Pierre

(KCCR) — A Huron photographer is expanding his art to the Capital City. Craig Lee is a former television photographer who says he’s looked into setting up a second studio in Pierre for some time…

“Well there’s been a big hole left up in Pierre seems like with some of the photographers moving out of the area on the past few years and I looked up there and looked at the market up there and it looks like someone with the services that I offer would really be doing Pierre a service and so you know we’re looking at this spring we have our place, our studio location figured out.  We’re going to be moving up there probably about the end of the month.”
Lee says Pierre’s central location is part of reason why he selected Pierre versus other cities to expand…

“It seems like it’s difficult to get people from Pierre to travel and so I thought if I could come to them and do photos in their area and focus on, you know, being at their football stadium or at their dance hall or with their downtown that’s going to be more appealing for those seniors.  I know that when we photograph Huron kids or De Smet kids or Brookings kids, they like to be in their location.”

Lee is also looking forward to become a part of the Pierre community…

“I do think a key to a lot of this is becoming involved in the community.  You know when I moved to Huron I got really involved in the community that I live in, now I won’t be able to as involved in Pierre but I’m planning to be part of the Chamber and go to some of those events and sporting events up in that area.  I mean I think it’s just a good way to get to know the people of that community.”

Lee says his focus will be on high school senior photography but he will do other types of work. He will announce his studio location in the next few weeks.
