Investigation Of Domestic Incident Leads To Arrest For 4th DUI

A Pierre man was arrested for driving drunk while police investigated a domestic incident. On Monday, officers responded to the 2800 block of Kay Street around 1:30 pm to a report of a domestic assault that too place Sunday night and led to additional arguments prior to the call to law enforcement. Officers spoke to the 34 year-old female victim, who described a vehicle the suspect may be driving. While still on scene with the victim, the alleged suspect vehicle drove past. Officers then followed the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop. During the traffic stop, the driver, identified as 32 year-old Clayton Wisespirit, was found to have been driving on a suspended license and drinking alcohol. Wisespirit initially refused to cooperate with police. He was arrested for Simple Assault-Domestic, Resisting Arrest, Driving while Suspended, Fourth offense Driving while Intoxicated and an open container violation. Wisespirit was also arrested and charged with a second Simple Assault-Domestic count from the incident the day before.
