Jr. Legion has Strong Weekend in Rapid City

Post 8 Jr. Legion Struggles to Find Groove Against Post 320 Shooters                                       Fri.  –  6/7/19

  • Post 8 Jr. Legion struggled to get their offense going on Friday, getting easily dispatched by Post 320 Shooters, 11-3.
  • Post 8 Jr. Legion got things moving in the first inning. Post 8 Jr. Legion scored two runs when Aaron Booth doubled.
  • Post 320 Shooters knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning, when Garrett G doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
  • Post 320 Shooters pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run for Post 320 Shooters.
  • Jimmy R was the winning pitcher for Post 320 Shooters. He allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out one and walking zero.
  • Isaac Polak took the loss for Post 8 Jr. Legion. He lasted four innings, allowing 12 hits and nine runs while striking out five and walking zero.
  • Elliot Leif led Post 8 Jr. Legion with two hits in three at bats.
  • Post 320 Shooters racked up 14 hits on the day. Gavyn, Jimmy, Garrett, Matt M, and Peyton all managed multiple hits for Post 320 Shooters.

 

Early Lead for Post 8 Jr. Legion Sets Stage for Victory Over Williston Babe Ruth 15U           Sat.  –  6/8/19

  • Post 8 Jr. Legion defeated Williston Babe Ruth 15U 12-2 thanks to a strong start. Post 8 Jr. Legion scored on a double by Bennett Dean, an error, and a single by Jacob Larson in the first inning.
  • Post 8 Jr. Legion tallied five runs in the third inning. Post 8 Jr. Legion’s offense in the inning came from doubles by Larson, Aaron Booth, and Collin Brueggeman, a single by James Mikkonen, and a fielder’s choice by Isaac Polak.
  • Elliot Leif was the winning pitcher for Post 8 Jr. Legion. He surrendered two runs on three hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Brueggeman threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
  • Tyler T took the loss for Williston Babe Ruth 15U.
  • Post 8 Jr. Legion saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. Leif, Booth, and Larson all managed multiple hits for Post 8 Jr. Legion. Leif went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Post 8 Jr. Legion in hits. Post 8 Jr. Legion was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Justin Houlette made the most plays with five. Post 8 Jr. Legion tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Leif led the way with two.

 

Post 8 Jr. Legion Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Oglala                   Game  2             Sat.  –  6/8/19

  • Post 8 Jr. Legion snatched the lead late in the game in a 13-4 victory over Oglala on Saturday. The game was tied at four with Post 8 Jr. Legion batting in the top of the fifth when an error scored one run for Post 8 Jr. Legion.
  • Oglala scored four runs in the second inning, but Post 8 Jr. Legion still managed to pull out the victory..
  • In the top of the fourth inning, Post 8 Jr. Legion tied things up at four. Isaak Rombough lined out, scoring one run.
  • Post 8 Jr. Legion notched four runs in the seventh inning. Post 8 Jr. Legion batters contributing to the big inning included Rombough, Aaron Booth, and Isaac Polak, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
  • Justin Houlette earned the win for Post 8 Jr. Legion. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out eight and walking zero. James Mikkonen threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
  • Gavin Boe started the game for Post 8 Jr. Legion. He surrendered four runs on two hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two
  • Post 8 Jr. Legion tallied ten hits in the game. Booth, Houlette, and Elliot Leif each managed multiple hits for Post 8 Jr. Legion. Leif, Houlette, and Booth each collected two hits to lead Post 8 Jr. Legion.

 

Post 8 Jr. Legion Clings to Victory as Post 320 Risers Nearly Erases 7-Run Deficit            Sun.  –  6/9/19

  • Post 8 Jr. Legion got out to a seven-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for an 11-9 victory over Post 320 Risers on Sunday. Post 320 Risers scored six runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by Dylan J in the sixth, a error in the sixth, a single by Jett W in the sixth, a double by Bryan R in the sixth, and a single by Brayden J in the seventh.
  • Post 8 Jr. Legion earned the victory despite allowing Post 320 Risers to score five runs in the sixth inning.
  • In the first inning, Post 8 Jr. Legion got their offense started. An error scored one run for Post 8 Jr. Legion.
  • Post 8 Jr. Legion notched four runs in the third inning. Post 8 Jr. Legion big bats were led by Gary Nedved, James Mikkonen, Elliot Leif, and Isaac Polak, all knocking in runs in the inning.
  • Collin Brueggeman was credited with the victory for Post 8 Jr. Legion. He surrendered five runs on five hits over five innings, striking out three. Gavin Boe and Bennett Dean entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
