Krogstrand on Canceled Spring Sports and Postponed Winter Events

Until Monday afternoon, the South Dakota High School Activities Association had tentative plans in place for spring activities as well as the postponed winter events so the high school athletes could compete and finish the seasons if things were to get better. However, Governor Kristi Noem suspended in-person learning for the remaining of the school year, enacting the Activities Association to cancel the all of spring activities as well as the winter events.

John Krogstrand, assistant executive director of the SDHSAA says all those plans were hanging on with the hope of school resuming…

Krogstrand says they will look at the budget for next year in the coming meetings because of the cancelled events but it’s not what’s important…

And Krogstrand says he took a positive away from this in how everybody was receptive to trying to adjust…

The SDHSAA will formalize the cancellation on April 21 and will begin looking at the 2020-2021 school year.
