Lady Governors Drop Second Game to Mitchell

The Pierre Lady Governors jumped out to an early lead on Mitchell last night in front of the home crowd but couldn’t keep up with the Kernels down the stretch and fell 67-45 to fall to 2-13 on the season.

The Lady Govs lead 14-6 after the first quarter with Emily Mikkelsen and Kodi Severyn scoring 12 of the 14 points in the first quarter. Mikkelsen finished with 14 points while Severyn ended with 12.

In the second half, the fouls were the story as the Kernels shot 22-29 from the free throw line in the second half. In comparison, the Lady Govs scored just 23 points in the entire second half. Tess Limberg lead all scorers with 20 points in the game as Mitchell won their fourth straight game and are now 10-6 on the season.

The Lady Govs will host Brookings on Friday looking to win that third game of the year and climb back into the SoDak 16 standings. Tipoff from Riggs High School will be at 7:00 on Friday.
