Longtime South Dakota Broadcast Feels for High School Athletes During Covid-19 Pandemic

This past weekend, the South Dakota High School Activities Association would have been crowning five different state champions from Class B to through AA. Instead, the Coronavirus pandemic has forced the SDHSAA to postpone the tournaments for now. This started back on Friday morning before the girls Class B second round games were to be played and the rest of the tournament was postponed. Long time South Dakota Broadcaster, Mike Henriksen, was there broadcasting the girls Class B state tournament games on SDPB TV.

Henriksen says he’s never seen anything like it and can only relate this to one other event…

Henriksen says the atmosphere was much different on that Thursday compared to any other event…

The tournament was postponed starting on the Friday but Henriksen says the teams still showed up and the feeling in gym was extremely somber…
