For the second consecutive time against North Dakota, the one-two attack of Macy Miller and Madison Guebert carried the South Dakota State women’s basketball team to a 66-52 nonleague win over North Dakota in the friendly confines of Frost Arena.
In last year’s game, Miller and Guebert combined for 51 points to lead the Jackrabbits to an 83-72 road win over the Fighting Hawks. Wednesday night, the duo combined for 30 points as South Dakota State improved to 3-0.
Miller scored 18 points to go with eight rebounds while Guebert added 12 points. Ellie Thompson added seven points, five rebounds and a career-high five blocks. Leah Klabo led North Dakota (0-2) with a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds.
SDSU took a 10-point lead, 41-31, on junior Sydney Palmer’s 3-pointer with 3:12 left in the third quarter. UND closed to within six points, 45-39, in the fourth quarter on a layup by Klabo at 9:15. The Jacks sank five of six free throws done the stretch for its 11th consecutive regular-season win in Frost Arena.
South Dakota State begins a three-game road trip Saturday when it plays at Green Bay at 1 p.m.
