No Opposition For Johnson And Barringer Means No Changes For Pierre City Commission

(KCCR) — There will be no election for spots on the Pierre City Commission in 2019. City Finance Officer Twila Hight says five pm Tuesday night was the deadline for possible candidates to submit petitions to run for office…

“Tonight at 5 was the deadline for petitions for the city’s election for the two Commissioners so we got Blake Barringer and Vona Johnson’s petitions turned in on time and no other opposition so we will have a notice of cancellation of election and congratulations to Commissioner Barringer and Johnson.”
Mayor Steve Harding says he’s looking forward to continuing to work with the current Commission…

“Commissioner Johnson, Commissioner Barringer, congratulations look forward to working with you again and we will keep moving forward.”
Johnson was first appointed to the Pierre City Commission in July of 2017 to fill the spot vacated by Steve Harding when he became Mayor. Barringer was elected to the Commission in June of 2016.
