Oahe Capital Pee Wee A Team Splits Weekend Games

The Oahe Capitals Pee Wee A team lost a heartbreaker in the last 22 seconds against the Watertown Lakers on Saturday.

Capitals were down 2-0 after the first period of play.  A goal from defensive player Grayson Hunsley with the assist coming from Corbin Beastrom and Carter Sanderson got the Cap’s to within one going into the third period.  Sanderson scores with an assist from line mate Andre Carbonneau and with two minutes left in the period Sanderson and Carbonneau do it again and the game is tied up.  The Watertown Lakers shoot with 22  seconds left and the puck finds the back of the net.  The Capitals fall with a final score of 3-4.

Sunday morning the Capitals face the Lakers again only this time there is a different ending.  Jarron Beck got the Capitals started with a goal and the assist coming from Devin Dodson.  The Capitals take the early lead and hold on for a couple minutes until the Lakers score.  End of the first period the score is 1-1.

The Lakers start off the second period scoring a goal only 2 minutes into the period, but a goal by Carter Gordon and the assist coming from Jayce Anderson got the Capitals back to an even score of 2-2.  One minute later Sanderson scores unassisted, which is followed up by a Lakers goal so end of the second period the Capitals find themselves in a tie game.  The Capitals are playing their game and battling till the end when Hunsley passes the puck up to Beck who scores again.  Capitals take the lead, but don’t let up on their game play.

At 8:55 in the 3rd period Carbonneau scores with the assist coming from Beck and Hunsley.  The Lakers pull their goalie and load up the ice but the Capitals remain calm and play their game and win with the final score being 5-3.  Goalie Jaxon Jungwirth had 18 saves on the game.

This was a true team effort with all teammates contributing.  It was a great end to the Pee Wee A’s season.
