Bantam Oahe Capitals split their last home season games this past weekend. The Capitals lost to the Huron All-Stars on Saturday.
Turner Starr was the first to score a goal in the first period with the assist from Isaac Polak. Huron would score two goals in the first period to take the lead at 2-1. Starr would record another goal in the second, but the All-Stars would put in two more goals also to extend the lead to 4-2 going into the third period. Polak would score on the powerplay but the Caps would fall short with a final score 6-3. Colin Lee recorded 11 saves and Kieran Duffy recorded 10 saves for the Capitals.
The Sunday game meeting with the Mitchell Marlins would be decided in overtime. The Capitals again would be the first to score with a goal from Ashton Griese in the first period. Mitchell scored two goals in the first to take the lead 2-1. Griese would bring the game to a tie after another goal in the second period with the assist from Carson Palmer. Mitchell again would take the lead with another goal in the second to go into the third period with a score of 3-2. The Caps would hold the Marlins scoreless in the third period and would tie the game again with a powerplay goal from Jonathan Lyons. The winning overtime shorthanded goal was scored by Polak with the assists from Lyons and Christopher Schultz to capture the 4-3 win. Kieran Duffy tallied 17 saves on the day for the Caps.
The Bantam team returns to action this Saturday to take part in the South Dakota Day of Hockey at the Denny Sanford premier center in a matchup with the #1 ranked Sioux Falls Flyers.
