Oahe Capitals Begin League Play in Yankton Sunday

The Oahe Capitals Hockey Boys Varsity open up the season on Sunday as they travel down to Yankton to face the Bucks. Last year’s Capitals team went 13-3-1-1 over the season which was third best in the league behind Sioux Falls and Rushmore. The Capitals return the leading scorer from last year’s team, Spencer Wedin, who scored 24 goals and accumulated 44 points on the season. Wedin will captain this year’s team in his senior season and the Capitals turn to Kieran Duffy between the pipes to be this year’s varsity goaltender.

In his first year as head coach of the Oahe Capitals, Steve Steele says, the guys are chomping at the bit to begin league play…

The Bucks last season won just one game all season and are 0-1 to begin the year losing to Sioux Falls 2 8-3 last week Saturday. Steele though, complimented the top line of the Bucks knowing they will be tough to handle…

Steele also talked about a couple of specific players that Yankton has to pose some problems for the Capitals…

Puck drop is at 1:00 on Sunday between the Bucks and Capitals. Jon Winkler will have the call with pregame beginning at 12:40 on Capital City Rock and online at capitalcityrock.com.
