The state tournament has finally arrived but not before two different delays. Games were supposed to begin at 9:35 Friday morning with the Oahe Capitals taking on the Brookings Rangers. However, with the winter weather, the first game was pushed back to 12:05 with the rest of the games to follow. Now, the tournament is again pushed back to 6:30 Friday night with the Rushmore Thunder and Watertown Lakers to follow. Huron and Sioux Center along with Sioux Falls and Aberdeen will now play Saturday morning. The Oahe Capitals beat Brookings at home 4-0 back on February 3rd. The next time these two teams met in Brookings a couple of weeks ago, the Rangers shutout the Capitals 3-0, with two of the three goals by empty net in the final minute of the game.
The Captain of the Capitals, Talon Greise says they need to keep things simple
Just like last year, the Capitals get the support of the home fans at the attempt of winning the state championship.
The Capitals have not been on the winner’s bracket side of the tournament in the last few years, something that Head Coach Rob Kittay hopes changes, particularly for the seniors
