A long four hour road trip for the Capitals found themselves in Sioux Center Iowa to take on the Storm for a game on Saturday and on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Capitals had to keep their composure and be effective on the penalty kill as they had to kill off eight penalties in the game. The Storm were able to score on three of those power plays and they came all the way back after the Capitals led 3-0 after two periods. After the Storm tied the game up with about four minutes left to play, Talon Griese stole the puck in the offensive zone and beat the goalie on the backhand to give the Capitals a 4-3 win in game one of the weekend. Spencer Wedin had two goals and Elliot Leif had the other.
On Sunday, the separation between the two teams were no different. It was tied 1-1 after one and 2-2 after two. Raef Briggs scored his sixth goal of the year in the first period and Jackson Lake scored his second of the year in the second period. Down 3-2 in the third period, Spencer Wedin tied the game at three before Caden Davis put in the game winner and Caps again won 4-3 over the Storm.
The Capitals are now 7-1 on the year in league play and will take on Mitchell next Saturday before finally returning home on Sunday to take on Brookings at the Expo Center. You can hear both games this weekend on Capital City Rock and capitalcityrock.com
