Outdoor Pool Task Force To Bring Presentation On Findings To Pierre City Commission Next Week

(KCCR) — A task force established last year by Pierre Mayor Steve Harding is ready to bring a possible plan for an new outdoor municipal swimming pool to the Pierre City Commission next week. Harding says he’s excited to see what the nine-member group is ready to propose…

“I’ve seen some early renditions of it, but haven’t gotten into a lot of detail on that, so I’d really like the public, if you can’t come to the commission meeting next week, watch it on Oahe cable because the pool task force, the Committee that I put together last spring. They’re going to bring their presentation to the full commission and to the public to let them know what they’ve come up with as far as the outdoor pool.”
Harding says the proposal will point out many possible questions connected to the idea of building a new outdoor pool facility…

“What kind of amenities that they…could be added and the cost of it, the location. All of those things that we’ve had so many questions on through the whole process, so I really encourage the public to take a look at that so they get an idea of what they’re looking at and then we’ll also discuss what the process will be from that point on.”
The pool proposal was tentatively expected to be presented at the end of 2018, but Harding says waiting to give the presentation has given the Outdoor Pool Task Force more time to make sure presentation can answer questions and contain as many details as possible. The Pierre City Commission next meets Tuesday, February 19 at 5:30 PM.
