Pee Wee A Capitals Fall Short Against Sioux Falls

The Pee Wee A Capitals fell to the Sioux Falls Flyers in a close battle both games on the weekend.

Saturday’s game started out with defensive man Barret Schweitzer stealing the puck and stick handled his way through the Flyers and found the back of the net with 5:36 left in the first period. The Capitals enjoyed the lead going into the second period but ended up losing the game 2-1 with both Flyers goals being scored in the second period.

The Capitals came back to the Expo pumped up and ready to play on Sunday.  The Flyers score two goals in the first period and the Capitals found themselves down 2-0 going into the second period.  The duo of Jarron Beck and Andre Carbonneau turned it on as Beck scores two goals off of assists by Carbonneau within two minutes of each other and the Capitals find themselves tied 2-2 going into the third period.

With 7:56 left the Flyers score a goal to take the lead on a power play.  The remainder of the third period was full on hustle and excellent play by the Capitals. Coaching staff pulled Goalie Jaxon Jungwirth to gain the advantage on the offensive end with two minutes left.  It was a full on offensive attack with all six players keeping the puck in the zone and shots being fired on goal, but the Capitals ended up short losing 3-2.

The Capitals outshot their opponents 50 to 26 on the weekend.  The Pee Wee A team has this weekend off and will resume February 10th & 11th with their last games of the regular season against Watertown being played at the Expo Center.
