Pierre Athletics Impacted with Increase in COVID-19 Cases

The Pierre Governor soccer, football and volleyball teams will be without games this weekend as the school has postponed contests through the weekend released from athletic director Brian Moser late Wednesday night due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. The Pierre Tennis team, the Competitive Cheer and Dance team and Cross Country team will still be in action as of now heading into Saturday along with middle school events.

The Governor soccer teams were supposed to play Roosevelt on Thursday in Sioux Falls, the football team was traveling to Tea on Friday and the volleyball team was hosting both Yankton and Douglas on Friday and Saturday. Moser in the press release says he is working closely with athletic directors from all four schools to reschedule the events heading into the future.

The other high school events are being discussed with coaches and administration as the week proceeds but as of now will still be able to compete. The suspension of athletic events includes marching band practices and performances
