Pierre Baseball Scheduled to Play in Rapid City Tonight

After the home opener was snowed out last week Friday, the Pierre baseball team is looking to return to action after a week and a half off. Thankfully, the field in Rapid City is in good shape and the Pierre Governor Baseball team will be back in action tonight. They will take on Rapid City Stevens who is 3-4 on the year. The lone common opponent between the two teams is Douglas. Stevens beat the Patriots 3-2 while the Govs outscored Douglas by a combined score of 35-1 in the doubleheader sweep.

For the Governors, starting pitching will be a key once again. The Govs successfully received four outstanding starts in the four games so far this season. On a cooler weeknight, keeping the score low and keeping men off base will be a huge asset for the team. Also having a week and a half off gives the Governors all of their rotation at their disposal. However, with the home opener on Friday, head coach Steve Gray will have to continue to use his pitchers efficiently.

First pitch from McKeague Field in Rapid City is scheduled for 6:00 Central Time with the second game to follow. You can hear both games on Today’s KCCR and todayskccr.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
