Pierre Baseball Takes Runner Up At Class A Tournament

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (TodaysKCCR.com) As heard on 1240 Today’s KCCR, the Pierre High School Baseball Team took second at the 2018 Class A South Dakota High School Baseball Tournament.

Peyton Zabel pitched a gem in the semi final game vs Sioux Falls O’Gorman, working 6.1 innings with 16 strikeouts and 19 first pitch strikes. Pierre would get the scoring started with one run in the 4th inning, three runs in the 5th inning and an insurance run in the 7th inning for a final score of 5-3.

In the Class A Championship game vs Brandon Valley, Pierre would only manage 2 runs on 6 hits.  Brandon Valley would score two in both the 2nd and 4th innings and one in the 6th inning on the way to a 5-2 final.

Pierre finishes out the year 15-7 and a second place finish for the 2nd time in school history.
