Both the boys and girls Pierre Basketball teams fell on Saturday to Brandon Valley as the boys were beaten 70-42 while the girls fell 57-37.
In the girls game, Pierre dug themselves a hole too deep to get out of as they were down 20-2 after the first quarter. They would be outscored by just two points the rest of the way but the 18 point deficit was too much to handle. Seven different players scored for the Governors but Kodi Severyn had the game high with just eight points as the Govs were without a double figure scorer. Pierre has dropped four of its last five and fall back to 13th place in the AA standings.
The boys contest saw the Brandon Valley Lynx jump out to a 21 point halftime lead and cruised to a 28 point to keep the Governors at one win and at the bottom of the AA standings. Lincoln Kienholz had the team high 14 points while Paul Adam and Grey Zabel each chipped in 12. The Governors are now at 1-16 and have dropped and on a second eight game losing streak.
Both teams will face the Huron Tigers as the girls will travel and the boys will host senior night on Tuesday. You can listen to the boy’s game on Today’s KCCR and todayskccr.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
