Pierre City Commission Approves Lease Amendment With Rapid City Tower Company

(KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission has approved an amendment to a long-term lease agreement with a company that has a communications tower on city land. Pierre City Administrator Kristie Honeywell says Western Communications of Rapid City would like to extend out the terms of the lease…

Honeywell says Western has had a good relationship with the City of Pierre since the tower was built back in 1965. The change will provide more stability for clients renting space on the tower in dealing with possible FCC regulatory steps if the tower is moved. One client with equipment on the tower is the National Weather Service and their NOAA Weather Radio station that services Pierre with forecast and severe weather information along with some low-power FM stations used by local churches.
