Pierre City Commission Approves New Gear For Fire Department

Pierre City Commissioners approved two items Tuesday night designed to help the Pierre Fire Department. Chief Ian Paul says he wants to replace a multi-use pick-up truck that is currently nearing 18 years old…

Paul has also gotten permission from the city to purchase new bunker gear for firefighters, which has also been budgeted for next year…

Bunker gear is the outer most protective equipment worn by firefighters. Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says they’ve tried to break up the replacement of the gear instead of doing all of it at the same time…

Paul says a lot of the Department’s bunker gear is nearing a decade in use. Both items were approved by unanimous vote. The estimated cost of the replacement pick-up truck is 30-thousand 888-dollars.
