Pierre City Commission Gives First Reading To 2021 City Budget

(KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission approved first reading of the 2021 City Budget Tuesday night. Finance Officer Twila Hight says the conservative budget will see only minimal changes…

Hight says there are only a few increases in the budget…

The sales tax increase Hight mentions is not a sales tax increase members of the public will see or have to pay for. It is accounting for an increase in monies already coming into city coffers. Hight says an extra one million dollars is being added for street repairs next year…

The only increase ratepayers will see is the expected eight-percent increase in water rates to pay for the drinking water treatment plant. Second reading and adoption of the City of Pierre 2021 budget will be September 22nd.
