Pierre City Commission Sets Public Hearing On Substation Rezoning Request

(KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission gave first reading Monday night to a rezoning and plat ordinance that if approved would allow East River Electric Power Cooperative to continue moving forward on building a substation to address growing power needs in northern Hughes and Sully County. City Planner Sharon Pruess says the change is needed to allow the parcel to be transferred to East River…

Hughes County Commissioners have already approved a variance to move an approach to the substation. Pruess says the Joint Planning Commission met on August 24th to consider the proposal…

The city land where the substation would go is leased out for hay land and Pruess says that will be adjusted next year…

A public hearing on the rezoning and plat request is set for September 15th in a joint meeting of the Hughes County Commission and Pierre City Commission at 5:30 pm. Three County Commissioners will join Pierre City Commissioners at the Pierre Municipal Building as Pierre will host the meeting.
