The Pierre City Commission has a full Tuesday night in front of them. Commissioners have two items of Special Business; one is a proclamation for Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. The second is recognition from the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources for a Drinking Water Certificate of Achievement Award. A 13-item Consent Calendar will greet Commissioners including minutes from the May 8th meeting, an appointment to the planning commission, claims, a carnival license for Northridge Plaza May 24th to the 28th, three raffle request and nine new hires. There is no unfinished business, but plenty of new business. New business includes a request to Discharge Fireworks on various dates at Hyde Stadium and a Street Closure request and associated Request to Serve Alcohol in the 300 block of Pierre Street. First reading will be held for Fire Prevention ordinances and Commissioners will get an update on the Solar Electricity project. The Commission will also get a briefing on the Emerald Ash Borer and a will consider a request to Abate Property Taxes at 430 South Henry. The Pierre City Commission is tentatively scheduled to meet in executive session for Economic Development. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building at 5:30 PM. The meeting is open to the public.
