(KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission is meeting tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building. Once again, the Commission is being greeted with a light agenda with only two items of new business. In special business Mayor Steve Harding will give a Covid-19 informational update before moving on to consideration of the Consent Calendar. Three items make up the calendar tonight. They include minutes from the June 16th meeting, the new hire of a part-time library assistant and the claims. New business includes a street closure request filed by the Street Masters Car Club for the annual Gravity Drags. The Gravity Drags will be held on Governors Drive August 8th as a part of 31st annual Dam Run event. The Commission will also hold a discussion on Fireworks. The discussion is being taken up after Pierre resident Al Schnabel addressed the Commission three weeks ago asking if the city would consider revising its ordinances on fireworks, to align them more like Fort Pierre. The meeting will conclude with Commissioners presenting any dialogue they may have. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 pm.
