Pierre Football Faces Rematch of 2019 State Championship

Nearly 11 months ago, the Pierre Governor football team hoisted the Class 11AA state championship trophy beating the Brookings Bobcats 32-16 on the campus of South Dakota State. Fast forward to Friday night and these two teams will play under the lights at Dana J. Dykhouse stadium in a rematch of the title game.

The Bobcats are 6-0 on the season and have gotten on the shoulders of Josh Buri who has near 1000 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns on the ground. As a team, Brookings runs the ball nearly 80% of the time. However, this week the Governors will counter with their own running back. Senior Maguire Raske has 800 yards on the ground and has scored 17 times on the ground which leads all of Class 11AA. Raske had more than 35 carries last Friday in the 35-13 win.

Head Coach of the Pierre Governors Steve Steele says this is a big game…

And Steele says winning the line of scrimmage will be key against the Bobcats…

The Governors and Bobcats will have kickoff at 7:00 from SDSU. You can listen on Today’s KCCR, todayskccr.com and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Greg Dean on the call.
