Pierre/Fort Pierre Get More Time From DOT For Bridge Planning

Pierre and Fort Pierre have decisions to make regarding a new crossing over the Missouri River. The State of South Dakota is paying for the base bridge. Amenities and features beyond a basic structure are up to the cities to figure out. Fort Pierre Mayor Gloria Hanson says they are still gathering information..

Hanson says they have been given some more time to decide from the State Department of Transportation…

Bid letting for the project is scheduled for 2020 with construction likely to begin in 2020 as well. The bridge will remain two lanes east and west but will include a wider, 12 foot walking path with multiple terraces cut in to allow for seating and resting.
