Pierre Girls, Boys Soccer Teams Fall in First Round

The Pierre Governor Girls Soccer team had the better and more chances in the first half against Rapid City Central but the Cobblers had the lone goal at the half and then rolled to a 5-0 win to end the Governor season.

Morgan Sullivan scored the first goal of the game 11 minutes in after Jenna Gehring made two great diving saves in the first 10 minutes. After the first goal was scored, the Govs controlled the pace the rest of the first half and had some high quality chances but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Kepler had nine saves on the day and eight of the nine were difficult saves to make.

The Governors finish at 3-8-1 on the year.

After 10 minutes, the Pierre Governor boys soccer team played the Watertown Arrows to a 1-1 tie. However, the Arrows scored two more times in the first half as they led the Governors 3-1 and eventually added a second half goal winning 4-1 to end the Pierre season.

The Governors finished the year 3-7-2 and just couldn’t quite get over the hump and fell in the 3/14 matchup as the Watertown Arrows will now host a second round matchup on Saturday.
