Pierre Governor Baseball Cancelled Tonight

The Pierre Governors Baseball team was supposed to host their home opener tonight against Sioux Falls O’Gorman. To the surprise of no one, the game has been cancelled. With the limited amount of time to play, the games will be not be made up which gives the Govs two less games to work with on the season. The Govs went 3-1 last weekend in Sturgis and Rapid City. For Head Coach Steve Gray, the pitching staff was the big take away from the weekend…

The four starters in those games combined to give up just one run and left each game with a chance to be the winner. Gray Zabel went the longest going five innings of two hit ball and striking out ten, but Maguire Raske might have had the most impressive inning striking out the side in order, all looking, to start the second game on Saturday.

For the Governors baseball team, getting outside has been the biggest struggle. The four games played this weekend, were the first time the team had gotten out on a field. Now, the whole situation reboots the problem but Gray isn’t allowing it to be a negative…

But this could end up being over a week long problem for the baseball team…

The Governors are scheduled to play on Wednesday in Rapid City and Friday at home but those games are weather pending, mostly to dry out the field.
